Action 52 Wiki

City of Doom is the fourty first game of the NES version of Action 52.

You play as a man who climbs a building. Bowling balls and pans falling from above and red and yellow hornets flying from everywhere will interfere with this. Enemies can be shot, however, the player can only shoot into the direction he is facing. Touching a window will drain the player's life bar to nil within a second. At the end of each level, a giant bird-like monster awaits, which the player must defeat in order to progress to the next level.

The game features 3 levels altogether: the first one is a tall building which goes into outer space. The second one is a shorter building, whilst the third one starts right off in space.

The game has one sole glitch: sometimes if the boss is beaten, the player will not be taken to the next level, and will be stuck on the building forever.

Manual description[]

While scaling the city skyscrapes to rid the city of the evil insect plague, you better shoot well and accurately because the fall is a long way down.

City of Doom was completed and remade during the Action 52 OWNZ project, by Shark Arms Studios. It features a Game Boy-like retro graphics environment, three levels (all on the same building), and multiple insectiod enemies, as well as new weapons, a LOT better movement-shooting system, and even puzzles with destructible blocks and electrical fuse-boxes. Windows are no longer harmful, and each segment has a different boss-battle, featuring 3 boss monsters altogether.
